Dental Surgeries

Apple Tree Dentistry

1/3 West St, Comberton, Cambridge CB23 7DS, UK – 01223 262838

I just wanted to share my positive experiences at the Apple Tree Dental Practice, especially the orthodontic work I had done by Judy Roberts. Appointments were arranged quickly and easily, the dental work was gentle but precise, and I received great support and advice throughout. When I started the process I was doubtful about how much my teeth could be improved at my (middle!) age. But the results were fantastic (and cheaper than I'd been led to believe elsewhere). Big thanks to Judy and all the team at Apple Tree.

I recently visited Apple Tree Dentistry having not been to a dentist for 27 years. I had lived with a life-long phobia and at the age of 39 I decided that I wanted to see if I could conquer it. I initially visited the clinic for an appointment with the Treatment Coordinator, Kelly, to discuss what I wanted to achieve from my visits to the surgery. Following a look around the surgery, she recommended a dentist who would be able to help me with my phobia. All the staff were extremely kind and sympathetic, taking care to listen to my fears and only progressing things at my pace. My dentist, Joao Afonso, was able to chat to me and carry out an initial examination. With his patience, reassurance and understanding, I felt calm and in control. He has since been able to carry out an extraction which was pain-free and far more comfortable than I could have ever imagined an extraction to be! With his help I have conquered my phobia and would recommend him to anybody who has a fear of the dentist. The whole experience at Apple Tree is calm, pleasant and friendly. Treatment options are explained thoroughly and equipment is clean, modern and comfortable. I will be visiting the dentist regularly now and whole heartedly thank the team for their support.

Find Recycling Centres

Madingley Mulch

Madingley Garage, Madingley Rd, Cambridge CB23 7PH, UK – 01954 212144

Good place to buy soils, composts, bark, decorative stone etc., both in big bags for lorry delivery or ones you can take home. Good prices, friendly & helpful staff and a shop stocked with all manner of gardening, decorating and DIY tools & equipment. A step above the usual run of these places. Always worth a visit. Good parking, though enter the yard with your car only if invited by staff to pick something up as there's a lot of lorry activity with goods being loaded for delivery.

good service, reasonable prices. good for if you are laying new Patio or new garden. but not great for plants.

Floor Coverings

Unit 31 & 32 Dry Drayton Industries, Scotland Road Dry Drayton, Cambridge CB23 8AT, UK – 01223 233233

I have recently had Floor Coverings install new carpets to my Lounge, Dining Room, Stairs and Landing, as well as Karndean in the Study, Hall, and Downstairs Cloakroom. Before commencing I obtained quotes from two other quality suppliers, I wasn't necessarily looking for the cheapest price, I was however looking for quality workmanship, and competent after sales should I have any issues. I spent some time going over what I required with the owner Taro at their extensive showrooms in Dry Drayton, and I must say I was impressed by the whole experience. I also had several dealings with Paul Gray, who came out initially to measure up, and returned again to discuss an issue that I needed clarification on, what a credit he is to this company, nothing was too much trouble, and his attitude is spot on. The installation date was arranged to fit in with my requirements, and the fitters turned up on time with everything that was needed, the work was carried out to a very high level. I did have a couple of very minor issues that I wanted sorting after completion, but a quick telephone call was all that was needed and this was sorted out very quickly and without any hassle. I would not hesitate to recommend Floor Covering to anybody that wants a high quality job for a competitive price. Mr L. Hail Weston. St Neots.

Just had our whole upstairs plus stairs recarpeted by Floor Coverings and we're so pleased with it. Their show room has a huge selection of carpets to view and the guys were helpful and not at all pushy. We were able to borrow samples to take home. Quote provided very quickly after measuring up, and carpets fitted two weeks later. Very professional job done and the fitters were polite and left everything very tidy. Highly recommended!

Sure Petcare

The Irwin Centre Scotland Rd, Dry Drayton, Cambridge CB23 8AR, UK – 0800 012 4511

Amazing customer service. The products are generally very reliable, but when my Sureflap developed a fault (after 4 years) they sent me a new part for it, for free, which arrived the next day! Fantastic.

Awesome customer service from Sure Petcare. Our 10 YEAR OLD microchip cat flap wasn't working properly and they sent us all of the parts needed to fix it FREE OF CHARGE!!! This included a whole front plate, as we have such an old model that the new spare parts wouldn't fit otherwise. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Hardwick

The Plough

2 High St, Coton, Cambridge CB23 7PL, UK – 01954 210489

After a long drive from the South Coast we stopped in to The Plough as it was fairly close to our eventual destination. We were greeted by the staff and shown to a table. The staff were very friendly and chatted while we got settled and checked the menu. They were clearly going to be busy later, but they still gave us their full attention. We both chose their beer battered fish and chips. It was superb and accompanied by a home made tartare sauce. Excellent service and excellent food. We would certainly return.

Has the feel of a drinkers pub more than a restaurant. The staff were friendly. The food was pleasant. Hard seated area.

Tai Yuen

2 High St, Toft, Cambridge CB23 2RL, UK – 01223 263337

Splendid place with excellent food and lovely staff. Our favourite place to eat.

Great food, awful service. Strangely empty for a Saturday evening and although we were happy with the food, the staff looked like they had been trained by the North Korean version of Gordon Ramsey. Miserable bordering on rude, a real shame. *Edit: They also charged me for their "service".

The Three Horseshoes

High St, Madingley, Cambridge CB23 8AB, UK – 01954 210221

A lovely pub in a picturesque setting. The food is amazing. It is more expensive than your everyday pub food...but the food is much better than everyday food. I am always very impressed with the food and service.

Great new decor after being under new management by Cambscuisine, fantastic food. Deservedly busy. We'll definitely be back!
